Learning to Play Single Note Melodies on the Ukulele
5 Mondays: January 6 ~ February 3; 2-4pm
Mike began offering this course at The Ukulele Place about 4 or 5 years ago, & it’s been a big hit with our uke students. Is this your winter to give it a try?
Note: if you’re interested & wondering about his Chord Melody class, that will begin February 24.
Mike describes his Single Note Melodies class:
We begin with learning melodies via tablature, a simple numerical system that tells you where to fret & which string to pick. Then we’ll play melodies from the sheet music in The Daily Ukulele: 365 Songs for Better Living, by Jim Beloff.
Although this isn’t a beginner-oriented class, you don’t need to play by ear or read music (not much) to begin playing single-note melodies.
Mike is a retired teacher with over 25 years experience teaching in the U.S. & overseas. He’s been playing the ukulele for 8 years & teaching ukulele for 7 years, 4 of them at The Ukulele Place at The Rhythm Inlet.
Quite a few of us have taken this course, & found it quite informative & fun. Mikes’s a great instructor. ~ Christine S, active uker, posted to the Suncoast Sand Fleas Meetup site
