Level 1: Ukulele Made Simple for the Raw Beginner, on Zoom
8 Wednesdays: May 6 ~ June 24; 5:30-6:30pm
Learn to play the ukulele in the early summer months! While sheltering in place, it’s a perfect time for learning to play the happy uke. You can now join us from anywhere, from the comfort of your own home.
Jeff Hanna, co-owner of the The Rhythm Inlet & steward of the ukuleles at The Ukulele Place, combines his masterful teaching style, a background in singing & performing in small a-cappella groups, & a love of rhythm, strumming, singing & humming a tune on the ukulele, making this class fun & super accessible to even the rawest of beginners. Promise!
Learn & review a few simple chords & find yourself strumming easy, great popular songs you already enjoy singing along to. By hour’s end you’ll be making music with your classmates, humming a happy tune throughout your day.
You can’t buy happiness, but you can learn to play the ukulele, & that’s pretty close!
No musical experience or ability to read music needed. If you don’t own a ukulele, we have 200+ ukes on the wall available for your purchase, with curbside or shipping available.
Pre-registration is required. Note that folks have already been registering!
This class, like all of our classes right now, are FREE! We accept donations, whether $1, or $25, or the regular price of $60 monthly membership, or the actual total cost of $120 for the 2 months of weekly classes. Whatever you choose, we want you here. Ask about your included 2-Month Membership!

I love the ukulele. It’s held near your heart, & you carry in your hands the cheerful, sunny sounds of a beachside fair wherever you go. ~ Barbara Gail of The Rhythm Inlet
Hello & welcome to all our new beginner students! Here are your instructions for your first day of class.
Please download & print out the following 7 charts, before our first day. (We found that printing was best from a computer, & not so great from an iPad, the layout was weird.)
Bring to class these charts, a pencil & paper, & have something to lean your writing paper on (i.e. clipboard, cardboard square, notebook, or nearby table top).
Have a surface next to you, to place your chart where you can see it. On a chair next to you, or beside your device where you’re viewing on Zoom, is perfect. If you have a music stand, you can use that instead, to put your charts onto for easy viewing. If you don’t have a music stand, that’s fine, anything will do.
Oh, & your uke! Please bring your uke. And your smiling faces, we love those. 🙂 See you Wednesday!
